And I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying
Come and see
And I saw, and behold a white horse:
And he that sat on him had a bow;
And a crown was given unto him:
And he went forth conquering, and to conquer
And there went out another horse that was red:
And power was given unto him that sat thereon
To take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another:
And there was given unto him a great sword
And I beheld, and lo a black horse;
And he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand
And I looked, and behold a pale horse:
And his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him
And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth
To kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the

And I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God
And for the testimony which they held:
And they cried with a loud voice, saying
How long, O Lord, holy and true
Dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
And white robes were given unto every one of them;
And it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season
Until their fellowservants also and their brethren
That should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled
And, lo, there was a great earthquake;
And the sun became black as sackcloth of hair
And the moon became as blood;
And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together;
And every mountain and island were moved out of their places
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men
And the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man
Hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
And said to the mountains and rocks
Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne
And from the wrath of the Lamb:
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Et je vis quand l'Agneau ouvrit un des Sceaux
Et j'entendis, comme le bruit du tonnerre, l'une des quatre bêtes disant

Et je regardai, et voici un cheval blanc:
Et celui qui était assis sur lui avait un arc;
Et une couronne lui fut donnée:
Et il sortit conquérant, et pour conquérir
Et il est sorti un autre cheval qui était rouge:
Et le pouvoir fut donné à celui qui y était assis
Pour enlever la paix de la terre, et qu'ils s'entretuent:
Et il lui fut donné une grande épée
Et je vis, et voici un cheval noir;
Et celui qui le montait avait une balance dans sa main
Et je regardai, et voici, parut un cheval pâle:
Et son nom qui était assis sur lui était la mort, et L'enfer a suivi avec lui
Et le pouvoir leur fut donné sur le quart de la terre
Pour tuer avec l'épée, par la famine, par la mortalité, et par les bêtes sauvages de la
terre
Et je vis sous l'autel les âmes de ceux qui avaient été tués pour la parole de Dieu
Et pour le témoignage qu'ils avaient rendu:
Et ils criaient d'une voix forte, en disant:
Combien de temps, ô Seigneur, Saint et vrai
Ne jugez-vous pas et ne vengez-vous pas notre sang sur ceux qui habitent sur la terre?
Et des robes blanches ont été données à chacun d'eux;
Et il leur fut dit qu'ils se reposeraient encore un peu de temps
Jusqu'à ce que leurs compagnons de service et leurs frères
Cela devrait être tué comme ils étaient, devrait être accompli
Et voilà, il y a eu un grand tremblement de terre;
Et le soleil devint noir comme un sac de crin
Et la Lune est devenue comme du sang;
Et le ciel partit comme un rouleau quand il est roulé ensemble;
Et chaque montagne et chaque île ont été déplacées de leur place
Et les rois de la terre, et les grands, et les riches
Et les hommes forts, et chaque esclave, et chaque homme libre

Tombez sur nous, et cachez-nous de devant la face de celui qui est assis sur le trône
Et de la colère de l'Agneau:
Pour le grand jour de sa colère est venu, et qui peut subsister?
